Pre-production of the new Citroen C6 has Started in China

Pre-production of the new Citroen C6 has started in China at a factory of the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. The new Citroen C6 is code named X81. It will debut in semi concept form on the Beijing Auto Show in April and in production form sometime around September, with a launch on the Chinese car market scheduled for late Q4.




The new Citroen C6 will be based on the PSA EMP2 platform. Power will come from 1.8 and 2.0 turbocharged engines, and a hybrid might be added to the lineup later. The C6 will be the first China-made Citroen equipped with the famous hydraulic active suspension. Design will be inspired by the 2010 Citroen Metropolis concept car that debuted in Shanghai on the Expo 2010.

The new C6 will also have a sister at the Citroen DS brand, most likely to be called DS9. The DS9 was previewed by the 2012 DS Numero 9 concept, which debuted on the Beijing Auto Show. The concept was ‘powered’ by a 295hp hybrid powertrain. The DS9 will be launched in the first quarter of 2017, manufactured by Changan-PSA, the joint venture that makes all the DS-branded cars in China.

Citroen teases the China-only Citroen DS 5LS sedan

New teasers of a new Citroen DS sedan for the China car market. When the first teaser came out it was widely assumed, including by us, to show the upcoming Citroen DS4 sedan that is currently under development in China. However, new reports indicate the teasers are teasing another sedan, called DS 5LS, and based on the Citroen DS5.



The Citroen DS 5LS sedan will debut on December 19 on the Paris Auto Show in France. China-debut is scheduled for the Beijing Auto Show in April next year, and it will be launched on the China car market around the same time. The DS 5LS sedan will be made in China by the Changan-PSA joint venture. No confirmation about engines yet but Chinese media say one of the power plants will be the 163hp 1.6 liter turbo that powers so many other China-made Citroens and Peugeots.

Citroen teases China-only DS4 sedan

Citroen has released a teaser of the upcoming China-only Citroen DS4 sedan. The teaser shows a flashy headlight. Citroen says design of the DS4 sedan is inspired by the Citroen DS Wild Rubis concept car. The Citroen DS4 sedan will be launched on the China car market in March 2014. Price will start around 180.000 yuan.

Earlier spy shots of the Citroen DS4 sedan. It will be made in China by the Changan-PSA joint venture. The DS4 sedan is basically the same car as the equally China-only Citroen C4L, which is made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture.

The DS4 sedan will get the typical DS-treatment to make it look more up-market car so Citroen can charge more money for it. The DS4 sedan will get a DS front with the teased head lights, a DS-sed interior, different rear lights, and those coolio DS-badges.

The DS4 sedan will be powered by a 1.6 turbo in two different configurations: 163hp and 200hp. The Citroen C4L is also available with a naturally aspirated 117hp 1.6 but the DS sedan won’t get that engine, as it is considered too cheapish for the DS range.

Peugeot developing mid-size 6008 SUV for the Chinese car market

Peugeot is developing a new mid-size SUV for the Chinese car market. The SUV will be called Peugeot 6008 and it is expected to debut in 2015. The 6008 is based on the new PSA EMP2 flexible platform, which is available with a wheelbase of 2620mm, 2840mm, or 2900mm.

Power will come from a 163hp 1.6 liter turbocharged four cylinder and from a new V6 engine that is currently under development especially for Asian markets. Price will start around 200.000 yuan and end around 250.000 yuan.
The Peugeot 6008 SUV will be made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. Currently, Dongfeng-PSA makes only one SUV, the Peugeot 3008. In the future the JV will also manufacture the 2008 and 4008, besides the 6008.

Peugeot 2008 will be launched on the China car market in April 2014

The new Peugeot 2008 SUV will be launched on the China car market in April 2014. The Peugeot 2008 will be made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture to compete with fine cars such as the successful Ford Kuga and Nissan Qashqai.



The Peugeot 2008 will be powered by a rather old 1.6 with 114hp and 150nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Price of the 2008 1.6 is expected to start around 100.000 yuan. In late 2014 the new 1.2 turbo will join the line-up, priced around 125.000 yuan.
The 2008 is only the second SUV that Peugeot is manufacturing in China after the 3008. The French have big plans for the future however with the 4008 and the China-only 6008 waiting in line to conquer the Chinese auto market.

Citroen DS5 Golden Pearl debuts at the 2013 Guangzhou Auto Show

This is the new Citroen DS5 Golden Pearl, it debuted today on the 2013 Guangzhou Auto Show. The Citroen DS5 Golden Pearl is a concept previewing a super luxurious variant of the China-made Citroen DS5. The name refers to the Pearl River that flows through Guangzhou city. The Golden Pearl is painted in matte gold with red touches and stands on racy wheels with speedy matte silver alloys. The interior however, is even better.

The whole inside is clad in ebony wood and calfskin leather, making for a very impressive cabin. Even the leather around the gear lever is completely made out of calfskin. The steering wheel is a stunning piece of art by its own right. Thick carpets are made of wool.

The passengers in the back can enjoy the sunshine via a giant sunroof.

And there is another targa-like sunroof at the front, operated by an aircraft-style control panel.

Whether the Citroen DS5 Golden Pearl will even become reality is an open question, but we sure hope so. The roads of the world are already so full with dull brown cars, this slightly mad and very special Citroen can kick a bit of ass.

The very first spy shots showing the upcoming Citroen DS4 sedan testing in China. The China-only DS4 sedan will debut on the April 2014 Beijing Auto Show and will be launched on the China car market in late 2014. The DS4 sedan will be made in China by the Changan-PSA joint venture.

Noul PEUGEOT 308 / 408 sedan 2014 ?

SPYSHOTS: Is this the new Peugeot 308 Sedan?

 

This is the first time we’ve seen this prototype on test. It appears to have the new Peugeot family front-end, and judging from its size, it appears to be some kind of C-segment sedan. Might we be looking at a Peugeot 308 sedan on test, or perhaps the new Peugeot 408?

Other than the outline of the front grille and bumper, there are some other details peeking through the heavy zebra-like disguise. We know the headlamps have integrated daytime running lights, as those are peeking through, and from the rear angle we can see bits of the tail lamp design, which look like they’re lit up with LED technology.



This car isn’t to be confused with the Peugeot 301, which is a ‘conquest car’, Peugeot’s term for entry-level cars aimed at increasing market share in emerging markets such as BRIC countries. The incrementing number method of naming models are now gone – the new naming scheme is made up of models with a ’1′ suffix being conquest cars, while models with ’8′ at the end of the numbering badge are premium cars.

The previous-generation 308 actually had two different sedans built on it. One was a 308 Sedan, and another was a larger 408, which was based on the 308. We’ve covered both cars before in our previous posts, but only the 408 is on sale in Malaysia.
